Everybody wants to be somebody. So, what if you found out you were just a nobody? That is exactly the problem our protagonist is about to have to confront. He is a hardworking detective who spends his time cracking cases in the underbelly of a decrepit metropolis. Yet it turns out, he’s not actually real. He is “Detective 2”, a fictional character in a film. A nameless, minor character, who’s character arc is to die, all in service of the plot. As the film’s editor and director edit the film, Detective 2 is forced to die over and over again. However, Detective 2 manages to break free from his destiny and avoid his death, causing a “unknown error” in the footage. He begins an investigation into the mystery of his own demise, which comes to a head when the director greenscreens himself into the fictional world. Face to face with his own killer, Detective 2 will have to reckon with his own life and death, when the director offers him a deal.
